If you performed a refresh of Windows 8, upgrade to Windows 8, or a custom install of Windows 8 without formatting the drive for a clean install and selected to install Windows 8 on the same partition of the previous Windows installation, then you may have a C:\Windows.old folder left over in your new installation. It contains a copy of the previous Windows 8 installation, and can be quite large in size.

If you already had a C:\Windows.old folder in the installation that you performed a refresh, upgrade install, or a custom install on, then it may be renamed to say C:\Windows.old.000 (older previous installation) in addition to the C:\Windows.old folder. The most recent previous installation will always be in the C:\Windows.old folder.

This tutorial will show you how to delete the Windows.old folder(s) generated during the installation to free up the hard drive space that the Windows.old folder(s) takes.

Delete "Windows.old" Folder Using Disk Cleanup

1. Open Disk Cleanup.
   Search in C:\Windows\System32\cleanmgr.exe

2. If prompted, select the Windows drive, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: You will not see this window unless you have more than one drive or partition on your computer with a drive letter.

3. Click/tap on the Clean up system files button.

4. If prompted by UAC, then click/tap on Yes.

5. Repeat step 2 above.

6. Click/tap on the Previous Windows installation(s) box to check it, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)

7. Click/tap on Delete Files.

8. When Disk Cleanup finishes, the C:\Windows.old folder will be deleted.

Tools Required:

1. USB flash drive with a minimum capacity of 4 GB.
2. Windows 7/8 Setup DVD or iso file.

Step 1 : Plug-in your USB flash drive.

Step 2 : Open the PowerShell (OR Command Prompt if PowerShell Not Exist). If you are using Windows 7/Vista then open it with administrator rights.

"Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories ->Windows PowerShell ->  Right-click on “Windows PowerShell” and select “Run as Administrator”.

Step 3: In the PowerShell/Command Prompt, type these commands in exact order one by one.

diskpart
list disk
select disk x (here "x" is the number corresponding to the USB disk, which you need to replace with what is shown in your system)
clean
create partition primary
active
format fs=fat32 quick
assign
exit

Be very careful when using the "select" command — you don't want to end up formatting your hard disk instead!

Step 4: Mount The Windows 8 ISO Image Into A Virtual Drive
Burning the ISO image onto a blank DVD is not an option if you don't have an optical drive. You can instead mount
 the file as a virtual drive. Windows 8 comes with an inbuilt utility; all you need to do is to double-click on
the image file and it will get mounted as a virtual drive. However, if you have an older version of Windows, you can use a freeware virtual drive application such as MagicDisc to mount the image.

Step 5: Make The USB Drive Bootable
Assuming that F: is your virtual drive letter where the Windows 8 ISO image is inserted and G: is the location of your USB drive, open the command prompt as mentioned earlier and type the following commands:

F:
cd boot
bootsect.exe /nt60 g:

Again, double-check the target location for the boot record to ensure you don't accidentally overwrite your HDD's bootsector.

Step 6: Copy The Installer Files
Don't close the command prompt yet. The USB drive has now been made bootable, but there's one more command you need to execute in order to transfer the Windows 8 installation from the virtual drive to the USB stick. In the same command prompt window, type the following command:

xcopy f:\*.* g: /e /f /h

You can alternatively copy all the files in the virtual drive to the USB drive by using Windows Explorer, but using XCOPY ensures that system and hidden files are also copied.

Step 7: Boot Off The USB Drive
To install Windows 8 on your netbook or computer, you must set it to boot through the USB flash drive. To achieve this, shut down your computer, then go into the BIOS (CMOS setup) by pressing <DEL> or <F2> as soon as you power it on, without unplugging the USB stick. Set the USB drive as the primary boot device, save the settings, and restart. Alternatively, since most modern computers (ie, post 2005) allow you to select the boot device via a hotkey after it is powered on (either through <ESC>, <F9>, or <F11>), you can choose to boot through the USB flash drive this way.
 Install Windows as usual. If you've changed the boot sequence through the BIOS, remember to reset it to the internal hard drive when the system restarts after copying the installer files. Let us know in the comments section if you face any issues.

Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates and interrogating your PC etc

You can get it back:

Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. This opens the group policy editor.
Then go to:
--> Local Computer Policy
--> Computer Configuration
--> Administrative Templates
--> Network
--> QOS Packet Scheduler
--> Limit Reservable Bandwidth.

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth.
It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e." By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%

I found Java really interesting Language and as an Software Engineer you have to learn Java to progress in your career. To learn the Java language one must be master in C Language. The C++ knowledge will add the weight to your learning ability but is not essential.
Here we will try to learn the Java programming language for the beginners, I will present you the simple and solid tutorials which will thoroughly guide you to learn this Language. To start with you need the Java JDK Environment which is similar to your TCC/Tc or the GCC compiler. Those who don’t have can downland it from here .

This is a big question for those who are still using Turbo C++ Version 3.0 in Windows Vista. As everyone knows that full screen is not supported with the version 3.0 in Vista; it is ridiculous to work in the small screen where I think no one can ever imagine writing a program there! This solution will help all the C, C++ learners using TC++ 3.0 in Vista.

The reason we secure a wireless network is to stop people from using the services of our network who don't have permission to utilize them. It is harder to secure a wireless network from hackers as compared to a classic wired network. This is due to the fact that a wireless network can be accessed anywhere inside the range of its antenna.
In order to secure a wireless network from hackers, we should take proper steps to save ourselves against security issues. If you don't secure a wireless network from hackers, you might end up without its service. The consequence might also include the utilization of our network to attack further networks. To secure a wireless network from hackers, you should follow these simple wireless networking tips:
       1.       Strategic antenna placement:

                The first thing you have to do is to position the access point's antenna in a place which restricts the range of its signal to go further than the required area. You should not put the antenna close to a window because   glass can't obstruct its signals. Place it in a central location of the building.

Here's a simple little thing you can do to increase your bandwidth by at least 20%.
Ok here we go...

Do you access your Facebook or Twitter account while you are on a public network like your college’s or office’s unsecured wifi.Then this is the time that you should think about your account security.If you think that facebook or Twitter are secured websites then it’s the time to face the reality they are not secured.Whenever you login into your facebook or twiiter account check the address bar of your browser you will see something like http://www.facebook.com/home.php? Similar is the case with twitter.They use http protocol instead of secured https protocol.But if you login into your gmail account you will notice that it uses https protocol.
